As Christians we need to grow in Christ:
we need to deepen our knowledge of God and the Bible. We cannot sit back and get lazy - but need to expend some effort to become spiritually mature. And we cannot allow our pride and lack of love to tear apart God's church.
All Christians belong to Christ, not a particular teacher or denomination.
Once again make your pride take a back-seat and begin to od your part to further the Kingdom of God.
Each of us can be used by God to build up the Church and share the Gospel with others. But only God causes salvation and spiritual growth.
Be faithful as you serve Christ.
Do not owe your allegiance to human leaders, but know you follow Christ alone.
Do not become puffed-up and wise in your own eyes, and do not elevate others to the place that only Christ should occupy.
Do not judge?
Who gets to judge anyways?
Are there different types of judging and how are Christians to distinguish between right & wrong, between holy & evil?
Let God judge the hearts and motives of other Christians.
Using four members of our Church, we read a condensed version of the main events leading up to the cruxifiction of Jesus Christ.
Not all details are read, but a nearly seemless and chronological story is told by the four Gospels.
Here is a short examination of the events and prophecies leading up to the cross. Jesus had predicted his death and manner of death.
Jesus knew his culture well and included a 3-day imagery into His plan. Jesus fulfilled exactly OT prophecies concerning the Messiah.
Join us as we examine in detail the Passion week and all the intricate events that took place the week before JEsus was crucified and raise to life again.
Adding to the previous week, we now look into alternate "theories" and myths concerning how Jesus died, or did not die - how he was raised to life and all the post-resurrection appearances proving Jesus really did rise bodily from the grave - the triumphant savior. Jesus, as God, could not be killed (spiritually) or held captive by death.
Are you serving God with joy?
Paul uses strong sarcasm to evidence the pride of these Corinthians, who felt they had "arrived" spiritually and were living large - while Paul and the Apostles were being maltreated and suffered daily.
Are you willing to be God's servant?
Whom do you imitate?
Sin is to be shunned and condemned, not people. Do not hang out with unrepentant Christian sinners, or you might begin to agree with their behavior.
Christians need to model their behavior after Christ, and live a changed life.
Tolerance or Sin?
Christians are to live differently than the world, a life no longer bound by sin.
Church cannot blinbly accept those living in sin - choose Christ and change, or choose the world. God has standards and so His church must also. Christians should not tolerate evil inside the Church of God.
Keep the Church clean of sin and make no allowance for evil among Christians.
But we cannot hide form the world, we must keep ourselves pure while also seeking after the lost and sinful world.
Do not mix yourself with evil and sin, but do seek to tell others of Christ!
Christians and lawsuits !?!
Christians are not to take each other to court, but rather be defrauded and keep the name of God holy. God will repay in the end, but we are to use Biblical maturity to settle Christian disputes.
Do not slander, abuse and cheat each other by using legal measures.
Golrify God in your bodies.
We have great freedom in Christ, but our freedom must not control us or become an addiction. Our freedom must edify and build up our Christian church and community. Here we examine Dualism and Gnosticism. Using your body for sexual immorality matters to God!
Marriage and Sex (God's way)
The Bible is clear that sexual relations are meant for marriage between 1 man and 1 wife. And marriage is to be permanent, lifelong. Sex in marriage is also normative, each looking to serve the other's needs.
God's plan for the single.
Some people are gifted by God for marriage while others for a celibate life.
But still, marriage is the only allowable place for sex. Paul may have been previously married, and shows his geniune care for those who might be single.
To Divorce, or Not?
God's plan is not for divorce. If you get married, you do this for life. If you divorce, then don't plan on remarriage.
Dont' look for escape clauses - obey God and select your lifelong spouse carefully.
Remain where God has called you.
If your spouse leaves you, you need to remain unmarried, and try to reconcile.
By your lving attitude, you may yet win back your spouse or lead them to Christ.
Neither worry about your place in life: each of us serves Christ and He alone gives us the value we need.
Be Heavenly Minded...
Paul gives some important advice to those thinking about marriage and family life, in light of serious persecution.
Marriage is fine and so is singleness - follow what God has gifted you with. But also pay attention to the end goal: Christ is coming again and this entire world will de destroyed...
Christian Love Supersedes Christian Freedom...
If you know God, then you will know and evidence love for others - a love that will limit your freedoms for the sake of others.
There is only one God, no other gods exist except the God of the Bible!
Are there Apostles today, and are we missing any books of the Bible?
Look to serve God, no matter if you must deny your freedom, or if you will paid or not.
Do all things for the sake of the Gospel.
Prepare yourself mentally and spiritually to share the Gospel with others. Use all manner of opportunities to sahre the love and truth of Christ. How much to train yourself in the Bible? How much effort do you put into your relationship with Jesus?
Where is your time and money going?
A Warning from History!
Paul uses the example of those that God sasved, guided and cared for during the Exodus. God does save and care, but those who rebel, fall into idolatry and put God's character to the test may find eternal damnation as a result!
Does God give more than you can bear?
Don't let others fool you, God knows where you live and the trials and suffering you endure. God does not allow any of us to be "tempted" beyond what we are able to endure - He provides the help we need.
God does not tempt us to sin!
Welcome Back to Church! (2014)
Just what is church about? Why take the time to go to church?
Learn that the Church is you and I, not a building. Christians gathered together, using their gifts to encourage, edify, teach and tell the Gospel - that's Church!
You cannot drink the cup of demons and the cup of the Lord.
Who are you following? You cannot play with fire and not expect to be burned. You need to flee from sin and idolatry, lest you perish like the Jews did during the Exodus!
Don't test God's patience...
Do all things to the Glory of God!
Christian freedom is real, and liberating. BUt we must learn to limit our freedom for the sake of others, for the sake of the Gospel. We cannot impose our restriction upon other Christians, but must also be wary of sinful liberalism.

The gifts of the spirit=for the benefit of the Church!
Who gets spiritual gifts? Why do we get spiritual giftings?
What things are spiritual gifts and what things are not...
God (as a Trinity) gives giftings as He pleases - and every Christian is graciously gifted with something.
Gifts are for the building-up of the Church, and the spreading of the Gospel.
God's giftings still exist today!
One (Church) body with many parts.
God's Church is to be unified by the same Spirit, the same love. Each Christian is valuable and necessary to the proper functioning of the Church body.
God has carefully designed you for Church.
We are the Church!
We are One Church body, with Christ as the head (leader).
All the spiritual giftings are equally important, so long as they are building up the Church. But Love, is greater still!
Love is the Greatest and eternal quality.
Quit fighting about your spiritual gifts, quit fighting inside the church - and pursue godly love instead.
Faith, Hope and spiritual gifts will end, but godly love will remain with the coming of Christ.
